In difficult times, it can be easy to become so focused on our own struggles that we overlook our neighbors. If, however we remember the commandment of Our Lord to care for those less fortunate than ourselves, our own struggles seem to disappear. The middle school class at this year’s Vacation Church Camp learned this important principle when they embarked on a project to help some special members of our community.
On the first day of Camp, they made special gifts and cards expressing their love for our seniors. Then on the second day of Camp, they travelled around Northern Colorado delivering their presents. Each senior they visited was filled with joy by both the visit and the present, and glorified God for sending the children to brighten their day and lift their spirits. In this simple act of neighborly care and love, the children were taught that even in difficult times the joy of giving to another unites us with that person and with God
