Service Books
for Holy Week 2020

- Matthew Cramer -

This year as we celebrate Holy Week and Pascha from home, we are providing service books for you to use as you pray along with the clergy and chanters. There will be some differences in translation between what is being read on the livestream and what you will see but you should have no trouble following along.

Preparing these resources takes some time so please check in daily for new service books to be posted as we move through the week. All service books are also available for download by selecting Service Books under the Media tab on our homepage.

For those familiar with the normal order of services, it will seem a little odd that Matins is held in the evening but liturgically speaking Holy Week and Pascha are the crowning moment of our Lord's work among His people. Everything get's turned upside down in a sense during this time. We experience Vespers as the sun rises and Matins as the sun sets giving us added strength to stand vigil during the "night" of each day. The Church is also experiencing a compression of chronos time during this week as all things come to fulfillment in a headlong rush to the resurrection of our Lord.
